UPDATE: PB Block Party Cancelled

Front page news in the U-T today, thanks to an anonymous commenter for the tip. Check out the article, looks like it's gone for good now. I think that supporters should have gathered outside town hall and chanted "Let Them Play! Let Them Play!" like the kids did at the middle school birthday party that Kevin Arnold's band "The Electric Shoes" were supposed to play at on The Wonder Years.
I could pretend like I'm upset about missing the bands, or the spirit of community that was going to bring us all closer together, but damn...I really can't imagine how great of a debacle a bona fide hot dog eating contest could have been...

So who else wants to join the PB town council with me? It's only $20....
I'm so glad that they're going to start focusing on "unity in the community, because unity is part of that word."
Thank goodness there are responsible citizens in this community working to make sure that nobody has any fun and everyone is as bitter and miserable as they are.

This is a direct result of the runaway housing market. Only old rich people can afford to own property in the Pacific Beach area and they are displacing all of the fun, beautiful San Diegans that made PB such a great place to live. These old bats are turning our fun and exciting (tourist drawing) community into yet ANOTHER yarn-knitting retirement home. It started with the Fourth of July and now PB block party? Why don't these old people move to La Mesa or El Cajon if they want quiet? The youth and arts atmosphere is exactly what makes PB so great.

Apparently a lot of people are committed to this thing happening, despite the permit issue. So get your friends and come hang out!! April 22, 2006
